White Fillings in Montrose, CO

How Cavities Start

Dental decay (caries) starts when bacteria from food and beverages create an acidic environment in your mouth. Brushing and flossing help to remove this acid and bacteria and help to protect your teeth. When left too long, the acid begins to eat away at the enamel of your tooth.

Once the bacteria erode your dental enamel, they can get inside the soft dentin part of your tooth and literally eat it away from the inside out. Because your tooth could still have most of its enamel, decay is not always visible, and that is why we take dental x-rays.

Dental x-rays allow us to see areas of decay more clearly and allow us to address decay before it becomes a painful problem. At Mountain West Smiles, we treat problems when they are small to protect our patients from unnecessary dental emergencies.

Tooth Colored Fillings Montrose | White Fillings MontroseAttractive White Fillings

Why place a dark filling in a white tooth when we have more natural-looking options available? White composite fillings are strong and attractive. We choose a color to match your teeth so that your fillings blend in and no one will notice them. That way, you can smile and laugh without people knowing you have any fillings at all.

Dr. Ken Cory will make sure you are completely comfortable and remove any traces of decay from your tooth. Then, he will apply the composite material in layers and treat it with a special light that hardens it.

Once all of the layers are in place, Dr. Cory will shape and polish your filling so that it blends seamlessly with your tooth. You can chew on your tooth right away. You should recover quickly from having a filling, and any sensitivity should subside within a couple of days.

We can’t bleach white fillings, so if you want a brighter smile, it is a good idea to professionally whiten your teeth prior to having any dental fillings placed.

Cosmetic Dental Bonding

Do you have a gap between your teeth or a chipped tooth that make you feel self-conscious? You don’t have to have a major cosmetic procedure to repair a small flaw. Cosmetic dental bonding can erase some of those smaller flaws and help improve your appearance.

Dental bonding utilizes the same composite material we use in white dental fillings. One of the benefits of cosmetic bonding is that Dr. Ken Cory retains your tooth structure with minimal prep work. We add to your existing tooth structure with composite material, cure it, shape it, and polish it so that it blends perfectly and looks natural.
