Children's Dentistry

Montrose CO Dentist | New PatientsAt Mountain West Smiles, we are proudly accepting new patients and welcoming families to our dental practice. We provide a full-service general dentistry experience with expanded services in endodontics, oral surgery, and orthodontics.

We founded our dental philosophy on solid preventative practices. We take our patients’ health very seriously and provide exceptional professional hygiene appointments and dental exams that go above and beyond the standard. We look for any conditions when they are small so that we can address them before they cause pain or tooth loss.

Bring In The Whole Family

We believe treating the entire family under one roof is essential. That way, we can take care of everyone from your four-year-old to your cherished senior family members all right here.

At our Montrose dental office, we accept most major insurance and offer payment plans for those patients who need treatment now but prefer to pay it off over time. We want you to have the dentistry you need before your conditions progress. Our helpful team members can talk to you about payments, insurance, and scheduling a time that works best for you.

Dr. Ken Cory looks forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our dental office, where we treat our patients like family.

children's dentist montrose coCavities remain the most common dental condition that affects children. Parents often feel hopeless to protect their kids because they rely on brushing and flossing alone to do the trick. The fact is that until the age of about eight or so, your child will still need help with brushing and flossing because they lack the dexterity to do it on their own.

In addition to outstanding home care, regular professional cleanings and exams are essential to cavity prevention. No matter how much you brush, you cannot reach every surface of their teeth. A professional cleaning will allow our hygienist to remove any remaining plaque that could cause cavities. Regular exams will alert us to any potential problems that arise.

Fluoride and Dental Sealants

If your child has a history of tooth decay, we can offer additional treatments such as fluoride or dental sealants to protect their teeth. Fluoride helps to strengthen enamel and prevent decay, while dental sealants create a barrier between food particles and the deep grooves of your child’s teeth. Both are affordable and proven to reduce cavities.

Dr. Ken Cory is experienced in children’s dentistry and offers comprehensive, gentle dental care. By bringing in your child at a young age, we can help you start them off with excellent oral health. Dr. Cory will work with you on techniques to help keep your little one’s smile bright and healthy!

children's dentist montrose coWe recommend that your child sees us at the age of four. We've found that this is a good age for the first appointment because most of the teeth will be in, we'll be able to get a good idea of how development is taking place, and your child will be old enough to sit still for the required amount of time and follow directions. If your child is younger and you are concerned about their dental health, please give our Montrose dental office a call and we'll determine if your child should be seen earlier.

Reducing Dental Anxiety

These first few appointments are very important. We make it a point of keeping your child's first appointment easy and fun. It's more important to get your child acclimated to the sights and sounds of the dental office so that he or she can feel comfortable and confident. In time, appointments at the dentist will be seen as a regular part of staying healthy – a good attitude for keeping healthy habits as your child grows up!

We'll address a number of common concerns, including nutrition, behaviors like thumb-sucking, and how to build good brushing and flossing habits, as well as which products are appropriate for your little one. We know you probably have plenty of questions, so ask away! We are here to help!
